shley Collins is a new and exciting independent Pop artist who is creating a buzz with her music in central Scotland.
Brought up in East Kilbride Glasgow, Ashley Collins was the centre of attention as a child and loved nothing more than singing at the top of her voice in her bedroom. She wanted to be a pop singer like her idols Madonna, Debbie Harry and Edi Reader.
Ashley first found her talent for songwriting as a teenager and began writing lyrics and melodies in her spare time after school.
Collins left school with 8 standard grades and 4 Highers and decided to study a three year HND course in Acting and Performance at a Glasgow drama school.
Shortly after graduating from drama college she landed her first role as a profesional actress in the hit BBC Soap "River City" as one of the girl gang. After writing many songs and learning to play the violin Ashley Collins had a chance meeting with a Scottish record producer Greg Friel at a national talent show in 2009 and they began co-writing songs together for Ashley's first album. After recording six tracks with Friel the up and coming star moved on to record the rest of her album with Jamie Duffin (the son of famous Wet, Wet, Wet guitarist Graeme Duffin). Ashley began building up her fan base in central Scotland after being asked to perform with Scottish radio stations Clyde 1, Pulse and YOUR Radio at their family fun days, roadshows, festivals and Christmas Light Switch on Events.
The young singer also showed her diversity by performing acoustic sets at many live music venues in Glasgow where she recieved great reviews for her songwriting and stage presence as a live performer. Loving You, the first single to be released from Ashley's debut album in June 2010 went to Number 1 on the Independent UK Text Charts and Collins donated half of the sales to a local charity called "Rutherglen High School". "Adulation" the debut album was released independently in November 2010.
The record features a collection of songs inspired by the personal journey of Ashley's life from a teenager to a young adult and Miss Collins has writing credits on every track. The album is a mix of 80's electro pop and heart felt ballads. You can purchase your copy now on all major download stores.
The Glasgow pop singer has recently supported chart topping boy band "The Wanted" and a string of this year's X Factor finalists including Aiden Grimshaw, Lloyd Daniels, Sophie Habibis, Katie Waissel, Wagner, Diva Fever and Belle Aime. Her new single SuperDiva went straight to Number 1 on the Independent UK Text Chart!
The singer from Scotland has also secured a role in new Scottish TV crime drama NINETY EIGHT PERCENT which will be on TV screens in 2013 and her music will be used in the show.
